Imagining possibility

Hello Reader,

I'm getting into a rhythm that's starting to feel more settled in my bones. Life in the Seattle area has been good to me, so far. Within a month, I re-applied for SNAP, got my car registered, and got on WA state Medicaid. I've managed to see a doctor, find a therapist, and make a dentist appointment— all things I struggled with in MA.

Proactively scheduling appointments helps me feel responsible in a way that my mental health keeps track of. I feel a sense of agency over my life that I lost somewhere in my 13 years on the east coast. I don't know how or why I lost it, but it feels good to have it back.

Over the past year, I've had a lot of time to think about the possibilities for my life and what I want it to look like going forward. In a conversation with my future self, he told me to watch the sunset every day. I've been doing so (most days) and it's become and important space for me to dream and vision without the stress of worrying about how to make it happen. It's just space to entertain what's possible. I didn't know how badly I needed that until I started my sunset practice.

Some of what I envision is outlandish and improbable. Some of it is achievable in the next few months. I'll share part of the achievable vision below. What's important is that I see the vision clearly and take the time to be with that vision each day.

When was the last time you held space for yourself to dream without thinking about whether your dream was realistic?

Introducing The Possibility Studio

The Possibility Studio is a nine-week virtual creative studio where magic and play collide to open up possibilities for your life and our shared world. This space is dedicated to the messy, creative process of becoming, inviting you to (literally) play with new ideas, explore the depths of your purpose, and reforge your connection to Spirit and your innate creativity.

Over the course of nine weeks, we explore spiritual wounds at the core of our being created by capitalism and burnout, and engage in creative activities, games, large group learning, and small group reflection to connect to soul-level purpose and unleash your feral imagination. You can learn more here: https://bit.ly/possibility-studio.

It runs each Wednesday Aug 26-Oct 21. Enrollment is open now through Aug 21 (this Friday).

I need four more people to sign up to be able to run the program and ten more for me to have enough info about what I should change for future runs. I'd love to have you as part of the space. You're welcome to email me with any questions.

Peace,

Taj

Hi Reader, After 20 years of seeing myself and my peers in advocacy and social change burn out repeatedly, I knew something needed to change. For two years, I've been juggling Rooted Respite with a part-time job that also asked a lot of me. My energy was divided, and it limited how I showed up and what I could offer. As I watch...

October 2024Grief, Liberation & Wonder Hi Reader, One of my earliest memories is a moment of loss and grief. I'm three years old, catching a spider in an empty jam jar. I give it a name and watch it try to climb up the sides until it suddenly stops moving. My mom sits beside me on the bed and explains that living things need air to breathe. She tells me my spider didn't have enough oxygen as I sob into the crook of her arm. As I got older and experienced more loss and, in turn, grief, I...
